Magna Science Adventure Centre is proud to announce a new partnership with Sheffield-based coffee roastery Caféology, bringing locally-sourced, sustainably produced coffee to Magna’s café.

The partnership was born from a discussion at the Bridges to Work Expo, an accessible employment event designed to connect jobseekers with additional needs with inclusive employers. Magna’s Chief Executive, Richard Hammill, met Caféology’s Finance Director, Toni Unkles, at the expo, and was subsequently invited to tour their local roastery. The visit left a lasting impression, with Magna’s team inspired by Caféology’s commitment to sustainable practices and inclusive employment, championing individuals with SEND.

With Caféology based less than a mile from Magna, the partnership significantly reduces the food miles associated with coffee supply, a meaningful step forward in Magna’s sustainability journey. Visitors to Magna’s café can now enjoy coffee that has travelled only a short distance from roastery to cup. The partnership also introduces a refillable packaging model, with containers returned to Caféology to be replenished with freshly roasted beans, cutting waste at every stage of the supply chain.

Yet this connection runs deeper than a business arrangement. Caféology has since employed one of the individuals who participated in the Reverse Jobs Fayre at the Bridges to Work Expo, a tangible outcome that reflects the shared values at the heart of this partnership.

Richard Hammill, Chief Executive of Magna Science Adventure Centre, said:

“When we launched Bridges to Work, we hoped it would spark new conversations and create opportunities for people who are too often overlooked. Seeing that lead not only to a fantastic partnership with Caféology, but also to someone securing employment as a direct result, is exactly why we do what we do.

We’re always looking to work with organisations that share our values, and Caféology is a brilliant example of that. They’re local, passionate about sustainability, committed to creating opportunities for people with SEND, and have a fantastic product. This partnership is about much more than great coffee – it’s about showing what can happen when local organisations come together with a shared ambition to make a positive difference.”

Toni Unkles, Finance Director of Caféology, said:

“Bridges to Work was an inspiring event, which highlighted our alignment with Richard and his team’s commitment to providing opportunities for neurodivergent adults by creating jobs within our local community.”

Magna Science Adventure Centre continues to develop partnerships that align with its values of inclusivity, education, and environmental responsibility. This collaboration with Caféology is a proud example of what can happen when local organisations come together with shared purpose.
