Magna will kick-start the festive season with the launch of its annual Christmas Fayre this month.

The visitor attraction will welcome families from across Yorkshire for a weekend of festive food, drink, shopping and entertainment. The event will take place on 24 and 25 November from 10am to 4pm.

There will be more than 60 seasonal craft and gifts stalls for families to enjoy, as well as the opportunity for children to visit Father Christmas in his grotto and meet his some of his reindeers.

Magna has already sold nearly 50% of its pre-event tickets, and expects to welcome 4,000 visitors throughout the weekend.

Kevin Tomlinson, Chief Executive at Magna, said: “Every year our Family Christmas Fayre proves to be extremely popular, and it’s perfect for those looking to avoid the mayhem of Christmas shopping”.

“Families come from across the region to browse through the stalls hosted by local South Yorkshire businesses, which sell everything from handcrafted goods to traditional treats. The appearance of Santa also presents a great opportunity for the children to collect an early Christmas gift and get them excited for the big day.”

Hallam FM will have their Cash4Kids sleigh at the fayre throughout the weekend and will be accepting gift donations for Mission Christmas. Magna are challenging their fayre visitors to help fill the sleigh over the two-day event to support the cause and provide gifts for the children at risk of waking up to nothing on Christmas morning. People can bring their own gifts to add to the sleigh, or even buy donations from one of the many local stall holders!

During the Christmas Fayre, children can take part in a range of festive activities, including crafts, candles making and Magna’s head Scientists will be on hand to share the best recipes for making gooey snow slime! Families can experience the full-size traditional carousel in the award-winning Face of Steel and enjoy the fairground rides.

Magna is a totally self-funded charity, all proceeds raised from events such as the Christmas Fayre go into the daily running of the Science Adventure Centre helping to educate young people about the wonders of steel, science and engineering.

Tickets for the Christmas Fayre cost £2.50 per adult, plus one child goes free. Additional tickets for children can be purchased for £1. Entry includes free entry to Magna Science Adventure Centre and SCI-TEK Adventure Play Park.
