Sheffield College – Apprenticeship Overview
The Sheffield College is the largest provider of work-based courses in the city and surrounding areas.
They provide academic, vocational and professional qualifications, as well as apprenticeship and workforce development training. During the last year, almost 16,000 learners studied with Sheffield College including over 2,000 apprentices.
The College works with employers, both large and small, delivering training solutions that meet their business needs to address skills gaps, accelerate business performance, and boost competitiveness. They include 850 employers whom we support through our apprenticeship programmes.
Expertise spans a broad range of industry sectors including business and professional services, catering and hospitality, construction, the creative industries, digital technology, education, engineering, hair and beauty, health and social care, scientific and laboratory services, and sport and leisure.
With the latest insight into education and skills policy developments such as the government’s new apprenticeship levy, which starts next year, we are advising employers now on how to prepare for and benefit from these apprenticeship reforms.
Our recent £15.6 million investment in new facilities in engineering and the creative industries reflects our commitment to increasing the region’s prosperity and training people in the skills that employers need.
